POSITION: Lead Oracle & SQL Server DBA DURATION: Contract-to-Hire
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This is a 3-month contract-to-hire position. Candidates MUST be interested in a Full-Time position. Must be a "hands-on" DBA experienced in both Oracle and SQL Server database administration.

Acts as DBA Lead over a team of Oracle and SQL Server DBA’s. Will be responsible for database creation, implementation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting for software applications. Also participates in database design, development, and maintenance projects and activities. Develops and presents major reports or presentations to that have substantial technical or business impact. Anticipates and identifies customer issues, needs and opportunities. Evaluates, installs, and maintains database management system (DBMS) software and related software products. Sets up and maintains data structures and database environments to support production, performance, and development activities. Assists management in evaluating and overseeing implementation of changes/enhancements to a vendor-supplied database management system (DBMS) and alternative software solutions to achieve client and management objectives.  
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience leading a team of DBA’s.
  • 5+ years of experience in a database analyst, DBA, or equivalent technical position.
  • Requires Oracle 10g/9i/8i and SQL Server DBA experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of the functions, features and benefits of installed database management platforms and associated structures.
  • Thorough knowledge of database design methods and techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of database security methods and procedures.
  • Expertise in performance tuning.
  • Thorough knowledge of techniques to define logical relationships among data, processes, or events.
  • Extensive knowledge of emerging technologies.
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise on strategic database platforms, structures, and migration considerations.
  • Experience in the identification and resolution to correct performance problems.
  • Experience conducting tests to newly installed/upgraded software.
  • Skill in isolating and resolving complex problems and utilizing appropriate diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to estimate, plan, manage, and communicate activities/deliverables of a mid-size project plan (i.e., a plan that affects a single system or product family and uses multiple resources).
  • Able to plan and execute a software platform change with minimal disruption in service to clients.
  • Solid verbal communication skills required.

      Pre-employment qualifications: A background check including criminal, education, and employment will be conducted prior to start date. Also, a drug test and credit check will be performed.
